Good morning, everyone! It’s Monday. Yes, it’s wet, rainy, miserable, grey, and dark, but hey, it’s Monday, so I’m choosing to be happy. My kids? They definitely disagree with that sentiment after having to wake up this morning. Anyway, screw the kids for now. Did you all see what happened yesterday? I just found out about this. Apparently, there was a pro-Rental Registration Licensing (RRL) program rally at City Hall. You remember RRL, right? It was that thing from last week where someone was like, “Slumlords matter, too!” Seriously, that was their quote.

So, yesterday, people who are actually for the rental program came out to show their support. But you can’t deny the optics of this thing. At the pro-RRL rally, it was primarily Desi people. Meanwhile, the rally against RRL was all white folks. I mean, come on, we’re not exactly breaking any stereotypes here where it’s brown people for slums and white people against them.

I don’t know, though. Everyone I know is pro this program because everyone hates this whole illegal basement and rental situation. So, I’m not sure these guys protesting it have the support they think they do, but more power to them, I guess. It’s just wild seeing this play out. You can’t deny the optics of it; it’s messy.
