Retiring Carters Jersey! - Tuesday!

Good morning, it’s Tuesday! What’s up? Just finished the kid drop-off, all good. Today’s a big day: the Raptors are retiring VC’s jersey! Vince Carter, number 15, the legendary Raptor, is finally being inducted. Okay, not Hall of Fame, but they’re putting his banner up in the rafters, retiring his number. It’s a beautiful thing.

As someone who grew up during that era, prime Vince Carter was like my prime basketball fandom. I was in high school and super into it. What this guy did for the city can’t be overstated. Before Vince, Toronto was just, “Oh, we gotta get our passports.” And, well, it kind of still is, haha. But after Vince, you could go to the States and people would be like, “Oh, you’re from Toronto? Vince City!” That wasn’t there before.

What this guy did for Canadian basketball was amazing. I remember that slam dunk contest, everyone does. I remember game seven against Philly, I remember just the hype and excitement around going to a Raptors game. What Vince did was just amazing. Right?

And yeah, I remember all the bad stuff too. I remember the coach turnover, I remember the fights with coaches, I remember him, maybe, quitting on the team. I remember defending this dude because I was like, “Which employee wants to work for an organization day in and day out that they just can’t stand?” I don’t think it was ever anything personal with the fans, but obviously, the fans are going to feel a certain way, and I get it.

But I think it’s a great move. I can’t wait until they retire Kawhi’s number. Maybe DeMar DeRozan’s number 10 too? I don’t know. But yo, I think it’s dope. I’ve always loved VC, and I’m glad that he’s being immortalized in Toronto. So, hey, cheers to him! Y’all take it easy, have a great day, and until the next one, peace!

Ai Header Image Prompt: A highly detailed, abstract digital art illustration inspired by the retirement of Vince Carter's #15 jersey for the Toronto Raptors. The central focus is a stylized, luminous representation of the number '15', dynamically ascending, with an ethereal glow, embodying elevation and immortality. Surrounding the '15', incorporate fragmented, energetic geometric shapes and streaks of light in the Toronto Raptors' signature colors (deep red, black, purple, and white), suggesting the powerful motion of a basketball slam dunk and the vibrant energy of an arena. Subtle, abstract outlines of a basketball net and iconic Toronto cityscape elements are woven into the background, blending seamlessly into the abstract composition. The overall image should evoke a sense of nostalgia, iconic sports moments, and lasting legacy, featuring intricate digital textures and luminous, futuristic light effects. The art style should be distinctly abstract digital, avoiding any human figures or faces to ensure a unique, non-AI-looking aesthetic and prevent limb distortions. Emphasize depth, a dreamlike quality, and vibrant energy. Ensure no text or bold titles are present within the image.
