Arshdeep Bains Gets His First NHL Goal - Monday!
Yo, good morning! We made it to another week, it’s Monday! Crazy how cold it’s getting now. It’s really gloomy, look at it – no sun, no light. Everyone’s waking up later now ‘cause the sun’s not there to remind them it’s morning. Not a big fan, man, but hey, what are we gonna do? Snowboarding season is in the works!
Yo, talking about cold ice, check out the transition I’m trying to make! Arshdeep Bains, another Punjabi hockey player, one of the few we’ve ever had, got his first NHL goal on the weekend! Scored! He’s in a handful of Punjabi players. Honestly, I think he might be the second or third actual, like, Punjabi Punjabi player, if not even less than that. Maybe the second. I can only think of Jujar Khaira right now, but it’s insane, man.
I’m happy for him, I’m happy for the community. You know, when you have your first, and you don’t have a lot of crazy history with this kind of stuff, and there’s no hockey in Punjab – like, there’s field hockey, but ice hockey and field hockey are completely different things – it’s just the way it motivates kids, man. It motivates parents, people of my generation who came up with the mindset that you just got to work hard because your parents are sacrificing everything, you got to get good jobs, you got to make the money.
And now our kids are the ones that are being pushed again into sports and driven to, like, be competitive. And so when you have, like, these guys like Arshdeep Bains and stuff, that you can be like, “Look, man, it’s possible,” ‘cause now there’s means in the community to do it. And so I see all my nieces and nephews and friends with their kids in early morning practices, you know, there’s a bit of a pep to their step. Like, yo, this is definitely something that is viable or doable for our kids to play hockey or play sports at a high level.
I don’t know if everyone can understand what it means for people, but like, having people be able to say hi, and you know, Punjabis are very tight in the community, so Arshdeep is going to be someone people are probably going to see around in the community, especially out in Surrey. So I think it’s dope, man. Congratulations to Mr. Bains! Hopefully, there’s a lot more Punjabi kids coming up, man. Some kids are talented as hell, man. I’m always seeing these new kids coming up, some in the OHL. They just keep getting better and better and better, man. It’s only a matter of time before we flood the NHL like we flooded in Canada. Could you imagine the NHL just a bunch of Punjabi kids running around?
And if you don’t believe me, man, ball hockey is a big Punjabi phenomenon. They can’t… we might not be able to afford skates, but ball hockey, Punjabis took over, man. They love it. Uh, so I’m looking forward to it, man. Y’all have a great day. It’s cold. I got to get out of here. Till the next one, peace!
