Post Halloween Blues - Friday!

Yo, it’s Friday, the day after Halloween! Anyone else feel like today should be a national recovery day? I was driving the kids to school and realized there weren’t many kids out. Maybe it’s a holiday for them? Either way, hope you all had a great Halloween!

It got me thinking, is Halloween dying? Fewer and fewer kids seem to come out each year. Maybe it’s just the neighborhood – a lot of boomer neighborhoods don’t have many kids trick-or-treating anymore since their kids are grown. But even here, maybe 40% of the street still does Halloween, so there’s definitely been an overall decline since I was a kid. It’s hard to fix, but it makes me appreciate the houses that went all out. Seeing my kids light up when they see a house decked out with decorations makes me want to step up our game next year. So, a big thanks to those houses that put in the effort, whether it’s just inflatables or the one house with the scary garage – I appreciate y’all!

On another note, a bunch of houses had signs saying “Lights are on for the Vols, no candy.” What’s up with that? Just put out some candy! Wild times.

Hope you guys had a decent Halloween night. It’s cold today, after the warmest Halloween since 1971 yesterday. You’d think that warm weather would mean more people out, but whatever. It’s a slow start to the day – I was up late trying to play scary games, which didn’t work out. Now I’m tired, so I’m going to work and trying to take a nap at lunch. Till the next one, peace!

Ai Header Image Prompt: An abstract digital art banner image. The composition features fragmented, ethereal forms rendered in a cool-toned palette of deep blues, muted grays, and soft purples, subtly punctuated by fading hints of burnt orange and amber. These abstract shapes evoke the ephemeral nature of lingering Halloween spirits and the diminishing vibrancy of a past event, with subtle, non-literal suggestions of decaying pumpkin forms or wisps of ghostly energy. Geometric lines and organic flowing patterns intertwine, creating a sense of quiet decline and reflective nostalgia. A soft, diffuse glow emanates from a distant point, representing appreciation and lingering warmth against the cool backdrop. The overall style is sophisticated, non-representational, and avoids overt AI artifacts, with a high level of detail in the interplay of light, shadow, and digital textures. The atmosphere is contemplative and slightly melancholic, without being overtly sad. No text overlays.
