Brampton Fireworks - Saturday!

Yo, good morning! It’s Saturday, the day after Diwali, and I don’t think Brampton’s fireworks ban is working. It’s been almost three years since they introduced it, and some people weren’t too happy, especially those who sell fireworks. Some even called it racist, but it’s not about that. Fireworks, especially at home during Diwali, are insane. Every house sets them off, and I’m not a huge fan. Let’s be clear, it’s not that I hate them; they’re pretty and fun, but too many people don’t know how to use them properly. We end up with at least one house burning down every Diwali and insane amounts of smog in the morning because of all the smoke.

I also find them to be a loud nuisance late into the night. If the fireworks ended at 10 PM, I’d be okay with it, but people are setting them off until 2 AM! Luckily, I have noise-canceling headphones, so they don’t bother me as much. My kids are older now, so they sleep through it. But if you have a new kid at home, those fireworks wake them up, and it’s impossible to get them back to sleep. Apparently, they drive dogs crazy too. It’s just a cluster. The city tried making accommodations, saying they’d allow fireworks at places of worship and Chinguacousy Park, setting up big parks for them. But that didn’t appease people because everyone loves trying to burn their houses down in their backyards and front yards.

So, what are you going to do? Get bylaw officers involved? I think they should empower citizens to traffic and ticket people. Here’s a video proof of you doing fireworks; here’s a $500 ticket. Anyway, it wasn’t too bad because I had noise-canceling headphones on, and I was tired, so I slept through a lot of it. But I did hear fireworks until about 2 AM. I’d wake up, go to the washroom, and still hear fireworks. I’m like, ‘You guys are obnoxious.’ Hopefully, you guys are having a dope ass Saturday.
