Brampton Riots!? - Tuesday!

Yo, good morning, it’s Tuesday. Last night was rough, especially when considering what happened 40 years ago in India. Around this time, between November 1st and 4th, Hindu nationalist mobs marched through Delhi, seeking out Sikhs to kill, burn, and destroy their homes. They murdered any Sikh they could find. Thankfully, there were Muslims who stepped up and sheltered Sikhs, but the carnage was immense. Sikhs consider this one of our biggest genocide moments.

Last night in Brampton, something similarly eerie unfolded. We had members, including a Hindu temple priest, saying, “Kill the Sikhs.” We had someone on a megaphone saying, “Burn down the Gurdwaras.” Mobs marched through the streets of Brampton, looking for Sikhs, breaking car windows, and acting violently.

Now, you might think that would scare us, right? Like, “Oh man, these guys are serious!” But you don’t know us. Hundreds, hundreds of Sikhs showed up at their local Gurdwaras, ready to stand up. They were like, “Alright, if that’s what’s going to happen, that’s what’s going to happen. We’re here to fight, we’re here to stand up. We’re not letting these guys come at us.” We’re not afraid of these crazy mobs, these heckling jackals who are fighting police trying to get at us. We’re not afraid of you. It’s as simple as that: you ain’t. We still believe, and we’ve always believed in Chardi Kala.

Ai Header Image Prompt: High quality, highly detailed digital painting, infused with abstract digital art elements. A powerful, stoic silhouette, representing collective resilience, stands firm against swirling, chaotic abstract forms. This central figure subtly hints at a group, composed of geometric patterns and glowing lines, emanating an inner strength. The background is filled with turbulent, shadowy, and smoky abstract shapes in deep, muted tones, suggesting a menacing, encroaching force. From the resolute silhouette, a vibrant, warm, and ethereal light radiates upwards and outwards, pushing back the darkness and symbolizing unwavering optimism and spirit (Chardi Kala). The composition is dynamic and symbolic, conveying a sense of enduring strength amidst adversity. The overall aesthetic is somewhat abstract, not literal, focusing on emotional depth and a unique artistic vision, avoiding a generic AI look. Contrast of deep, cool tones for the chaotic elements against warm, glowing amber and gold for the resilient spirit. Ensure natural and believable forms for any subtle human-like elements, avoiding distorted fingers or limbs.
