Retiring Derozans Jersey!? - Thursday!

Good morning, everyone, and welcome to Thursday! This week is flying by. I’m a bit shadowed because of the sun’s angle, but hopefully, you’re all having a great day. Something’s been on my mind: Should DeMar DeRozan’s jersey be retired in Toronto? And Drake saying he’ll pull it down… Drake doesn’t speak for the city like that. Honestly, I don’t either; let the city speak for itself.

DeRozan’s body of work speaks for itself. For me, it really comes down to whether it was enough. Obviously, you can’t penalize him for not being able to beat LeBron, one of the greatest basketball players ever. We battled LeBron multiple times, and we came up short, but we fought. DeRozan fought for the team; he chose the team when he could have walked away. I think there’s a legitimate case for DeRozan’s jersey being retired in Toronto, and I’m all for it.

The real question is, was it enough? I’ll let the city decide. I go back and forth because you want to make the criteria a championship or not. With Vince Carter, it was always that he was the first to really put the city on the map. But let’s be honest, DeRozan kept us there for the longest time, so you’ve got to show him love for that. Without DeRozan, there’s no Kawhi Leonard. I’ve always contended that without DeRozan, you don’t get that Kawhi value, and then there’s no championship. He was a valuable piece to actually get the team and the culture established, so I’m all for it.

What do you guys think? And what do you think about Drake being able to decide what’s best for the team at this point? Honestly, I’m at the point where I think they should take Drake off as an ambassador, going around talking to other teams and players. Just cut him loose! Anyway, have a great day, everyone. It’s a bit chilly out here. Until next time, peace!

Ai Header Image Prompt: An abstract digital art banner image, high quality, with high level of detail, not overtly AI looking. The artwork should embody the concept of a basketball legend's enduring legacy and honor for a Toronto team. The color palette is dominated by bold deep red, sleek black, and crisp white, accented with subtle, historical hints of royal purple and metallic gold. The composition features an intricate network of sharp, geometric forms, flowing dynamic lines, and fragmented, deconstructed shapes that abstractly suggest a basketball jersey, a court, and energetic motion. Luminous digital brushstrokes and stylized light trails create a sense of upward movement and elevation, symbolizing a jersey being retired. A very subtle and integrated abstract pattern, almost subliminal, reminiscent of a raptor's silhouette or a claw mark, is woven into the background textures. The overall mood is one of abstract athletic power, tribute, and permanence. Ensure no recognizable human figures are present, or if any form is vaguely human-like, it is extremely stylized and perfectly rendered without any typical AI distortions in limbs or hands. Absolutely no bold titles or text on top of the image.
