Through Their Eyes - Tuesday Yo!
Hola Bonos Diaz! It’s Tuesday, and I hope you guys are having a dope day. Actually, since it’s Tuesday, we’re having tacos tonight! Taco Tuesday! I hope you guys are having an amazing time. We’re finally unwinding. My mind has been all over the place lately.
I’m not going to delve too much into the challenges of traveling with kids. It definitely has its unique challenges, and it’s a bit different than traveling solo or just with my wife. But one of the perks of traveling with kids is that they’re seeing a lot of things for the first time, and it’s really amazing to experience that.
It really struck me yesterday. We were out walking, and there’s this little theater over here. They were playing steel drums and just general music—nothing crazy or insane, but my youngest heard it, and it was a sound he hadn’t heard before. He was drawn to it. He was so locked in like I’ve never seen him that intently focused in a minute! I was like, ‘Wow!’ For me, it’s just like, ‘Okay, yeah, steel drums. They play very generic, happy, upbeat, Mario-themed type music.’ But this kid, when I tell you, he was locked in! He was so focused. He appreciated the sound in a way that I don’t think I’d be appreciating it, or that a lot of us just don’t appreciate as we get older.
So, seeing things through their eyes and seeing experiences through their eyes is kind of amazing. When he locked in, I was like, ‘Alright, man, I’m going to just hang out with you and just vibe with you.’ And I know he caught the vibe better than a lot of people around us. There was one table in front of us where the grandmas were all on Instagram, and another table where the kids were on their tablets. I was kind of looking at that, and then I’m looking at this kid, and he’s just locked into what’s going on in front of him—the music.
My kid is a little bit more musically inclined. He loves playing the drums, and he loves playing that kind of stuff, so seeing him locked in was amazing. So that’s the new thing that I’m going to try doing for the rest of the week. I’m going to try to see everything as much as I can through their eyes, through their firsts, and experience it that way.
Hopefully, you all are having a dope day! Hopefully, your days are going great! Hopefully, you guys are having an amazing time! Until the next one… I don’t know how to say ‘I’m out’ in Spanish. I’ll work on that for tomorrow, but till then, peace!
