This Stan Lee Documentary Is Sketchy - Thursday!
Yo, good morning! Did you guys catch wind of this Stan Lee documentary situation? It’s super depressing. Apparently, one of Stan Lee’s former assistants started a Kickstarter or something to raise $300,000 to make a documentary. The premise? To expose all the elder abuse Stan Lee was allegedly subjected to, using footage this assistant supposedly has.
Here’s where it gets weird. Everyone’s asking, why a documentary? Why profit off this? Why not go to the police or Stan’s family? There’s this whole bizarre layer of hypocrisy. It’s like, you’re doing exactly what you claim the documentary is trying to expose – profiting off Stan Lee after he’s gone. Insane, right?
It makes you think. Back in 2016 or 2017, I saw Stan Lee at a Comic-Con. Didn’t meet him, though; the picture was like $60, and I thought, “Nah, that’s too much.” Plus, what would I even say? “I love Spider-Man”? Where’s that conversation going? A buddy of mine did meet him and said it felt like standing next to a cuddle, like Stan wasn’t really “there.” I kind of got that vibe just seeing him at the shows. At his age, being at all those events… you’d have to be a little checked out, right? Those are the years you just want to chill. Though, maybe he genuinely enjoyed it.
But this documentary thing? Super disturbing. Elder abuse is nasty, period. Elder abuse of celebrities is something we probably don’t even consider, because we assume they’re rich and have support systems. But it seems like his support network was milking him! It’s insane. RIP Stan Lee. Just nasty work out there. Be careful, people are shady.
Can’t believe a personal assistant is trying to paint himself as being on Stan’s side. Doesn’t seem like it at all. I think the only reason this bugs me more than other stories is because it’s Stan Lee. The Godfather of Marvel, the quirky cameos… it hits differently. Any elder abuse is worth calling out, but they really did Stan Lee dirty. Mr. Lovable, the grandfather of Marvel. Anyway, stay safe out there. Let me know what you guys think. Peace!
