Is Severance Worth Watching? - Friday!

What is good, everyone? I just caught up on “Severance” – well, I finished season one. I’m still kind of catching up, I guess. It’s a cool show with a unique premise. Without giving you any spoilers, the show is based on this technology that allows you to divide your brain in half. So, when you’re at work, you don’t know about your outside life, and when you’re done with work, you don’t know about your work life. They’ve kind of ‘severed’ your brain in a weird way, which is an interesting concept – something I would never have thought of.

But then you start thinking about it, and it’s like your day-to-day if you work in corporate America, corporate Canada, or any corporate environment. You kind of sever your identities, right? You have your work identity, and then you have your personal identity. We spend a lot of time and effort making sure those don’t collide. We used to joke about having ‘work friends’ and ‘home friends,’ and you never see them together. You can’t let those two worlds collide, because then everything just shatters. I feel like this show is playing on that idea, although I’m sure smarter people have delved deeper into the whole thing. It speaks to the duality of man and all that jazz.

It’s also about code-switching. You talk one way in life, and then you go to work, and you’re like, ‘Hey Bob, how you doing? Great game last night!’ Then you’re talking to your boy like, ‘Yo, man, you see what the Raptors…’ You know what I mean? It’s funny. But it’s a cool show.

I’m on episode one of season two. Season one had a lot of intrigue. I feel like they left a lot of things open. Season one started with one mystery, and then by the end, it kind of switched over, and you’re like, ‘Okay, did they answer any of those questions?’ I don’t know. And season two, it’s like they haven’t really resolved or created the problem yet. I don’t know. I’m only one episode into season two, so we’ll see. It’s not like my top 10 show yet; maybe it’ll get there, I don’t know. It’s a unique premise. I’ll leave it at that. Check it out if you haven’t.

I’d give it a solid 7 out of 10, maybe an 8 out of 10. But the problem is, when I give shows like an 8 out of 10, then everything else has to be like, ‘Well, then why isn’t it in your top 10?’ It’s just not a genre that I would particularly binge and rewatch, I don’t know. But cool show, check it out anyway.

Alright buddy, you have a great day. See you guys in the next one. Take care. Salutations, peace!

Ai Header Image Prompt: High-quality, highly detailed, visually striking image in a modern, abstract digital art style with surreal elements. The central focus features two distinct, glowing ethereal masses or fragmented forms, each representing a severed aspect of identity. The left mass is composed of sharp, translucent geometric planes and cool, sterile blue and grey light, reminiscent of structured data or office architecture, with subtle glowing lines tracing its edges. The right mass is fluid, organic, and radiates warm, soft hues of orange, purple, and green, embodying creativity and personal freedom. A brilliant, almost painful crack of pure white light, resembling a digital fissure, cleanly divides these two entities, preventing them from merging, yet showing their close proximity. Subtle digital noise, luminous particle effects, and light streaks emanate from this severance line, adding to the abstract, futuristic feel. The background is a deep, gradient void that subtly shifts between dark blues and purples, enhancing the luminous forms. The composition is balanced and evokes themes of duality, separation, and hidden depths. No human figures, limbs, or text are present, ensuring an abstract and non-AI-like appearance.
