Yo, what’s up, everyone? I was about to talk about something totally different today, but then, like an idiot, I hopped on social media before starting. I saw this video that completely derailed my train of thought. Basically, it was a disturbing video of a Sikh Punjabi woman at a bus stop in Calgary. Apparently, some racist creep assaulted her, pushed her around, and started yelling hateful garbage at her before walking away. Seriously disturbing stuff. I’m going to repost it here, but trigger warning for those who don’t want to see it. It’s not graphic, but it’s still messed up.

We’re in this weird, so-called “post-racial” world, especially with the rise of figures like Trump, where a lot of people feel emboldened to act on their hate again. It’s not like they weren’t hateful before, but now they feel like they’re in charge. And Danielle Smith in Alberta doesn’t help anything. I don’t know her personally, but her politics seem to align with that kind of crap. This kind of racism isn’t new, but it’s still enough to piss you off first thing in the morning. I don’t have any easy solutions. It’s not like we can just love our neighbor and everything will be fine. You have to punch a racist. Simple as that. You can’t give these guys any ground, any space. There is no reasoning with them, no converting them to reality. The only way forward is to, you know, give them a taste of their own medicine because there is no safe space to be given or understanding to be had. This is disturbing and it’s messed up, and it’s the only way forward, in my opinion.

People are going to say, “You can’t do that! You have to find a peaceful solution!” No, you don’t. You don’t need to appease bullies, and the only language they understand is force. That’s how I’m feeling this morning. Anyway, hopefully, we find out more about what happened and who this person was. I can’t imagine they won’t get caught and brought down since the video’s everywhere. It’s been a few hours since I saw it, so we’ll see what happens. Y’all have a great day. Peace.
