Joe Rogan Says NO To Canada! - Wednesday!
Alright, so Joe Rogan’s refusing to come to Canada, saying he’s not going to come to what he called a “Communist dictatorship.” He even said he’d rather go to Russia instead. Honestly, it bums me out a bit. I’ve learned a lot from him over the years.
He’s not against communist dictatorships, just Canada’s, apparently. Fair play, I guess. Rogan wasn’t going to a lot of UFC events anyway, but he made a point of saying he’s not coming to Montreal in May for the UFC event because he doesn’t like Trudeau or the Liberal government and what they stand for. He said Canada isn’t the Canada he remembers from 10 years ago. Weather’s about the same, people are about the same, things are about the same. This all came to light when Rogan wasn’t allowed into Canada during COVID because he was unvaxxed, and they weren’t allowing unvaccinated people into the country. He responded by calling us “communist dictators.”
I’m not knocking Joe Rogan. It’s cool to hate on him right now, especially if you’re coming from the left, because now he’s a Conservative Republican, red-pill-pushing conspiracy theorist. But he’s been this way since the start. I’ve been following Rogan for a long time, and even 10 years ago, when I started listening, I never thought he was this hard-right Republican. He’s a Libertarian at heart.
Everyone I know has listened to Rogan at some point. He’s like a gateway drug to podcasts and podcasting. If it wasn’t for Rogan, how many dorks wouldn’t have started their own podcast career, myself included? He made sitting there for three hours talking about nothing cool. But as it goes with everyone, there’s only so much talk about IAM and kettlebells that any human being can take before they’re like, “Hey, there’s probably more to life.” And then we explore all the different people that he talks to.
Like I said, he’s a gateway drug to podcasters, so you find other people who do cool stuff, and he introduces people to that stuff. To say Rogan’s just one thing is shallow, easy, and lazy. I get it, though. I’m not blaming Rogan for not wanting to come to Canada. It’s his call. If he doesn’t want to come here, he doesn’t have to. I’m sure once Pierre Poilievre becomes Prime Minister…can’t even say that with a straight face. If he does, I’ll recant, but it’ll be interesting times. Then it’ll be “now the real men are in charge,” the guy who worked at a call center, let him run the country.
Anyways, hope you guys are having a dope day. Peace.
