Saying Thanks! - Saturday!
Hey everyone! Let’s talk about something simple but powerful: saying thank you. It’s one of those things my parents really instilled in us, and it’s something I’m trying to pass on to my kids. If someone does something nice for you, or even if you’re just feeling a certain way, it never hurts to express your gratitude.
Now, I know there’s a whole industry around gratitude these days, with journals and practices dedicated to giving thanks to the universe. But even beyond all that, legitimately saying “thank you” is one of those weird things that can actually make you feel good. I don’t know the exact science behind it, but I know that if someone does something for me and I genuinely say thank you (versus just ignoring them), or when someone thanks me, it just feels good.
It’s a small tweak, a minor adjustment you can make in your everyday life that can have a profound improvement on your day-to-day. So, if you’re feeling down, make it a point to say thank you for even the smallest things. Someone opens the door? Great! Audibly say, “Thank you!” Really mean it.
And here’s another little trick I’ve found: if you’re feeling pissed off or tense, find a way to smile. Even if you’re not in the mood, just create that muscle tension to lift your lips a little. I don’t know the science or philosophy behind it, but it legitimately triggers something in my brain that helps release tension. Saying thank you and smiling—they both release this weird tension in you.
My parents were big on this. They would get really angry with us if they saw us not saying thank you. It’s one of those life lessons that I always try to pass on to my kids now: listen, I don’t know if you care or not, if you want to be a tough guy or not, but it doesn’t matter – say thank you.
On that note, thank you guys for watching! It’s awesome having an audience here. Simple as that. So, thank you! Anyways, till the next one. Peace.
