Social Media Age Limits On Old People?

Okay, hear me out on this one. We’re all pretty much on board with limiting social media access for kids, right? Like, under 13 or 16, we generally agree it’s probably not the best thing for their developing brains. So, we put limits in place to restrict their access. But what if we added a maximum age limit?

I’m not even kidding. Maybe once you hit 45, social media is just… done. I’m at this weird point where I’m talking to a lot of guys who are around that age and the amount of disinformation they believe is staggering. They’re always saying, “Have you seen this video?” or “Have you followed this TikTok?” And they’re sharing stuff from the most conspiratorial, grifter-type dudes.

It feels like there’s a decline in the ability to decipher fact from fiction as people get older. We used to joke about our parents sharing ridiculous Facebook posts, but now my generation is becoming those cringe-posting Facebook parents. It makes you wonder, do we need to cap it? Should we say, “Hey, if you’re over 45, no more TikTok, no more Instagram Reels?”

Maybe we should put you into some kind of old people social media house where you’re just given nice kitty videos or something. I really think there’s something to be said for the fact that as you get older, the lies you’re open and willing to accept become insane. I saw this video where someone was like, “Hey, OC’s brother was caught doing fentanyl!” and he responded, “That’s not me! What are you talking about?!” But people are so confident and sure of themselves, especially when they get older. They have age behind them, like “look, old person said so!”

I feel like 45 is a good age. Cut off all social media, cut off access to the internet. After 45, you’re done! You had a good run. Or, maybe you have to do yearly tests to make sure you’re still all there. I don’t know what y’all think, but I feel like there’s something to this. Give me five more years on the internet, and I’m good. I’ll willingly get off this thing, man. Alright, y’all take it easy till the next one. Peace.

Ai Header Image Prompt: A high-quality, highly detailed abstract digital painting. The composition centers on the ethereal, somewhat dissolving profile of a mature individual, their form subtly blending with a chaotic yet stylized digital landscape. This landscape is composed of fragmented, blurred shapes reminiscent of various social media platform logos, distorted text elements, and luminous, entangled data streams. Elements of glitch art and digital noise are interwoven, suggesting misinformation and cognitive overload. Interspersed within this digital maelstrom, a small, serene, almost dreamlike pocket of soft, warm light contains a blurred, comforting form, subtly hinting at simple, benign content like a fluffy cat. The color palette features cool blues, deep purples, and muted grays, punctuated by vibrant neon greens and electric blues for the digital chaos, with a gentle, inviting glow for the serene pocket. The art style blends fluid digital brushstrokes with sharp, geometric abstract forms, creating a unique synthesis of organic and artificial elements. The figure's outlines are soft and indistinct, ensuring no overt or problematic rendering of hands or limbs. The overall atmosphere is thought-provoking and slightly unsettling, without being overly literal. No text overlays or prominent numerical figures are present.
