Millionaire CEO SNATCHES Hat From a Kid & The Internet Gets REVENGE!
Yo, you guys see that video? The one with the older guy practically ripping a signed hat out of a tennis player’s hand, right as he was about to give it to a kid? You can’t make this stuff up. We’re talking about Piotr Szczerek, a Polish CEO and millionaire with a paving company, caught on camera in a truly baffling moment at a tennis match.
The player in question was Kamil Majchrzak, a pro, signing autographs and being awesome with the fans. He was literally handing a signed hat to a young fan, and that’s when Szczerek, without missing a beat, reaches over, snatches it, and shoves it into his wife’s bag. His wife, by the way, is celebrating like they just won the lottery. They then just… walk off. It’s wild.
Of course, the internet does what the internet does best: they found him. Swiftly and mercilessly. His company was review-bombed, and the memes started flying. This whole situation got me thinking – I might need to start a new segment here called “Goof of the Week.” And if I did, this guy, Piotr Szczerek, would be topping that list, no question.
What’s even crazier is the drama around his ‘apology.’ A statement went viral, supposedly from him, saying stuff like, ‘In life, if you’re not first, you’re last, and I take what I want.’ I read it and thought, ‘There’s no way this can be real. No one can be that tone-deaf.’ Turns out, my suspicions were right. That post was fake, a creative writer having some fun with fake news. His actual response? He said, ‘Hey, that first post wasn’t me. I’m really sorry. I apologize to the kid, I apologize to the player. I even sent the kid the hat. I just got caught up in the moment.’
Now, ‘caught up in the moment’? As a grown man, how exactly does one get ‘caught up’ in a moment that results in snatching something from a child? Is it just me, or do most adults at sporting events not feel that urge? If I caught a foul ball or a home run ball, especially in the playoffs, while I’d be celebrating, my first thought would be, ‘There’s a kid here. Take it, man. I’m too old for this.’ You know? There comes an age where you outgrow that level of fandom, where you should always defer to the younger ones around you. This just feels like a classic Seinfeld ‘George or Kramer’ type incident – pure absurdity.
Maybe I don’t understand fandom or sports as much as I think I do, but snatching a hat from a child just doesn’t make sense. Would you be brave enough to admit if you agree with his actions? More importantly, what would you do if you were a parent and another adult snatched something meant for your kid? I always think about this at baseball games. If an adult catches a foul ball and doesn’t immediately give it to the kid beside them, is that foul? I feel like it is. I feel like you always gotta defer to the kids around you. But hey, maybe I’m lost on this one. Let me know what you think in the comments!
Anyway, what a ‘Goof of the Week’ contender! Hope you guys are having a dope day, man. Till the next one.
