GEORGE SPRINGER Homer Sends Blue Jays to World Series! | Game 7 ALCS Thriller
The Blue Jays have done it! We are officially heading to the World Series! George Springer truly put the team on his back when it mattered most, and what a moment it was.
I’ll be honest, in the bottom of the seventh, I was a nervous wreck. It felt like we were struggling to get our offense going; we were getting hits, but the runs just weren’t materializing. Their defense seemed impenetrable, and time was running out. It was incredibly tense. With two runners on base, Springer stepped up to the plate, and what happened next was pure magic. Boom! You saw it, an absolutely beautiful, unforgettable moment. I was clapping, cheering, and yes, even waking up the kids! They came downstairs, and we watched the rest of the game together. They had a tough time getting up this morning, and I wholeheartedly apologize to their teachers, but some moments are just worth it.
It’s funny, I don’t really believe in numerology or anything like that, but there’s a beautiful irony here. The last time the Jays were in the World Series, I was my kids’ age, and they won it all that year. There’s something truly special about seeing a new generation experience the same kind of joy and collective celebration that you did at their age. I still vividly remember watching that 1993 World Series at a friend’s house. I don’t think I fully grasped the magnitude of it at the time, but I certainly remember the aftermath. We were in an apartment in Mississauga, and everyone rushed to the streets. We watched from the balcony as cars honked, people cheered, and fireworks lit up the sky. It was amazing, a moment that didn’t fully register until later, but feeling like my kids can now share in that collective euphoria? That’s just beautiful.
Now, we’re going up against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and none other than Shohei Ohtani. I saw some commentators on TV after the game practically calling out Ohtani, and it’s on! The guy who apparently “snubbed” Toronto and that whole “airplane fiasco” – we’re facing him, one of the greatest of all time. You can’t deny his greatness, but we’re ready. Let’s get it, Toronto! This is going to be spectacular.
What I love most about the Blue Jays is how they truly capture the spirit of the entire country. Like the Raptors, they’re one of those rare teams that bring everyone together, from coast to coast. There’s a collective sense of anticipation, that shared “tightening of the ass cheeks” when things are tense, and a unified, euphoric “YES, WE DID IT!” when we win. It’s a beautiful feeling of national unity. I love it.
Until the next one!
